Weber Trophy for Most Valuable Club Member

Updated: Dec 10, 2021

The Weber trophy is awarded to Hannah Patterson as the Most Valuable Club Member for 2021.

Hannah started playing hockey at school and was in the Massey High 1st XI - 2014 - aged 14 - only her second year of playing hockey. She joined ABC in 2016 where Karen Croft and Karen Porteous taught her everything in that first year. They were a huge help in improving her skills to make the next team.

In 2017 Hannah was in the Premier Reserve team - aged 17 - and captain of Massey High School 1st XI. At an early age she took on a managerial role for the Prem Reserves in 2018 and 2019 and also joined the Social Committee. In 2020 Hannah started coaching as well, assisting Madi Wright with the D1 Women and this season she took the reins on her own. In 2021 Hannah joined the Committee as our Uniforms and Equipment Coordinator and ably co-ordinated the hand out of the new ICT branded uniforms and collection of the old. Always keen to learn new skills this led to Hannah's first Laundromat experience as 220 uniforms would take a while to wash in a domestic washer!!

Most of you will recognise Hannah from her "sideline" role as unofficial ABC Club Photographer as she has captured 'in action' photos of all our teams on many occasions.

Hannah's service as coach, manager, player, committee member and photographer in 2021 has been recognised with the Weber Trophy Award for Most Valuable Club Member.

Karen Croft, ABC Secretary said: "Hannah is always willing to put her hand up when help is needed. This season she volunteered many hours of her time sorting uniforms and equipment which definitely made my life easier. Her photos capture many game day memories that we all love to see and her friendly smile and cheerfulness is truly appreciated."

Hannah said: "It's an honour to receive this award. Thank you also to everyone who contributes to ABC's success. There is so much behind the scenes work done which many people don't see. 6 years with ABC and I couldn't ask for a better family. Thank you to those who have coached and mentored me over the years. Without the support and help from them I wouldn't be where I am today as a player or coach. It's a pleasure being a part of ABC and I love being involved and helping the club strive. I feel extremely lucky to have met everyone I have while being a part of ABC and have made lifelong friendships. I will continue to contribute and support ABC in any way I can. #ABCsiSTARhood."
